Holy Grail: AM/Second Cleansers

It's been awhile since I've shared a blog post and for that, I'm sorry. With that being said, these cleansers are going to be cleansers that I personally love as a morning cleanser or as my second cleanser. I will post a separate blog post that will have my favourite makeup removing products because this post will get VERY long if I don't. Please keep in mind you do not need to own all these cleansers, view the list and choose the one you think best suits your skins needs and is in your budget. This post will continuously be updated and any new additions will be added below the line each time. I'm constantly trying out new products, especially cleansers, so this will certainly be updated often.

  1. CeraVe - Hydrating Facial Cleanser

Suitable Skin Type(s): All Skin Types

Why I love it: it's simple, it's inexpensive, it gets the job done, it doesn't strip your skin from its natural oils leading to a compromised skin barrier. It's pretty much available world-wide at your local drugstore/walmart.

Key Ingredient(s): Ceramides, Hyaluronic Acid, Fatty Alcohols - all are great at keeping your barrier in check.

2. The Ordinary - Squalane Cleanser

Suitable Skin Type(s): All Skin Types

Why I love it: again, it's really simple and inexpensive. You can use this to remove your makeup if you want, however I always used this as my morning cleanser or my second cleanser.

Key Ingredient(s): Squalane - derived from plants, not animals.

3. Jordan Samuel Skin - The After Show Treatment Cleanser

Suitable Skin Type(s): All Skin Types

Why I love it: takes everything off (makeup, dirt, sunscreen) without stripping the skins natural oils. I've purchased this countless times and I always go for the largest size possible because it lasts for 10 months.... No joke. I was using this only in the morning, and used a small amount. A little goes a long way.

Key Ingredient(s): A bunch of antioxidants. There are no essential oils in the cleanser for sensitive skin.

4. The Inkey List - Salicylic Acid Cleanser

Suitable Skin Type(s): Normal, Combination, Oily, Acneic

Why I love it: it's inexpensive and effective. Salicylic acid cleansers are best to be used in the evening only because it can be a bit drying. This should only be used 3x a week at maximum - NOT daily. Salicylic acid is still an exfoliant, therefore we do not use it daily. One downfall, you have to own multiple cleansers since you can't use this daily

Key Ingredient(s): Salicylic acid - exfoliating, great for acne as it unclogs pores, anti-inflammatory

5. Image Skincare - Ormedic Balancing Facial Cleanser

Suitable Skin Type(s): All Skin Types

Why I love it: gives my skin a boost of radiance and doesn't strip the skin. If you have extremely hyper-sensitive skin, I would avoid because it does have a lot of botanicals/essential oils which may irritate you. Cleansers are short contact so that is extremely rare - but a precaution I feel is necessary.

Key Ingredient(s): Green Tea, Aloe Vera, Panthenol, Antioxidants

6. CosRx - Low pH Good Morning Gel Cleanser

Suitable Skin Type(s): Normal, Combination, Oily

Why I love it: it really gives a good deep cleanse without stripping the skin. This cleanser does foam up quite a bit and I don't think it would be suitable for dry skin, however there are lots of dry skin types who love it. If lathering is a common thing your dry skin doesn't like, don't buy this.

Key Ingredient(s): Tea Tree, Betaine Salicylate, Allantoin, Anti-Oxidants

7. Paula's Choice - Optimal Results Hydrating Cleanser

Suitable Skin Type(s): All Skin Types

Why I love it: it's a really great cream cleanser that works for all skin types. Once again, doesn't strip the skin and it leaves your skin with a very soft and radiant appearance. It's also really inexpensive and often times on sale. Very comparable to the hydrating cleanser but more creamy.

Key Ingredient(s): Humectants, Fatty Alcohols, Green Tea, Anti-Oxidants
