Holy Grails: Moisturizers

We're getting down to the last couple posts for my holy grails... Although, I'll likely end up randomly adding more about different topics as I get suggestions/requests for it. As always, there will be a link for Canadian shoppers, American shoppers, and then a link for all International people outside of Canada/USA.

CeraVe PM Lotion

Suitable Skin Type(s): All Skin Types

Why I love it: this is easily my favourite moisturizer and apparently everyones favourite as well. The name has changed slightly, but still the same formula. Very light-weight but still very moisturizing. Worked great in conjunction with my retinoids

Key Ingredient(s): Ceramides, Hyaluronic Acid, Niacinamide,

CeraVe Moisturizing Cream

Suitable Skin Type(s): Dry Skin

Why I love it: although this is better suitable for dry skin, I love this for my body. You get a huge tub of it and it honestly lasts for months. People with dry skin tend to love this as a facial moisturizer.

Key Ingredient(s): Ceramides, Cetearyl Alcohol + Cetyl Alcohol (Fatty Alcohols)

Dr. Jart+ Cicapair Tiger Grass Cream

Suitable Skin Type(s): All Skin Types

Why I love it: this is another favourite of mine, however I stopped using it because of the metal packaging (made a mess). They've recently updated the package to plastic, the formula is still the same. I recently repurchased with the new packaging and it's still amazing. Great for people with acne/inflammation!!

Key Ingredient(s): Centella Asiatica, Niacinamide, Panthenol

Dr. Jart+ Ceramidin Cream

Suitable Skin Type(s): Dry Skin

Why I love it: even though this is most suitable for dry skin, I still loved using this moisturizer. In the winter my skin can be a little on the dryer side, especially with frequent retinoid usage, but this helped lock all my humectants in! Also, if you're someone who does winter activities, this is a great barrier moisturizer

Key Ingredient(s): Ceramide (blend), Sodium Hyaluronate, HA, Panthenol

Tata Harper Water-Lock Moisturizer

Suitable Skin Type(s): All Skin Types

Why I love it: a perfect light-weight moisturizer that is very hydrating. I also love the refillable concept that Tata Harper did with this; instead of continuously purchasing the same containers that end up in landfills, you just repurchase the container inside. A single pump is plenty for the face + neck. Note: very pricey

Key Ingredient(s): Hyaluronic Acid, Peptides

Suitable Skin Type(s): All Skin Types

Why I love it: this really doesn't need much of an explanation... Everyone knows the brand, they know the price point, they know the quality. It's a really great, inexpensive, basic moisturizer that anyone can use. I always go for the big bottle for a few extra dollars.

Key Ingredient(s): Urea, Allantoin, Sodium PCA, Glycerin, 11 Amino Acids, HA,

Skin & Lab Medicica Calming Cream

Suitable Skin Type(s): All Skin Types

Why I love it: light-weight moisturizer that has more of a gel texture rather than a cream texture. If you're a fan of K-Beauty, you've likely already have tried this. Similar to Dr. Jart Cicapair, but less rich and less emollients/humectants.

Key Ingredient(s): Centella Asiatica, Panthenol

First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream

Suitable Skin Type(s): All Skin Types

Why I love it: this is a classic that everyone loves, including myself. It is a bit of thicker moisturizer, however I don't find it leaves my skin greasy at all which is why I recommend it to all skin types. Note: I believe the package changed to a pump now instead of the jar packaging

Key Ingredient(s): Colloidal Oatmeal, Squalane, Urea, Allantoin, Ceramides, Shea Butter, Avacado Oil

Eucerin Aquaphor Healing Ointment

Suitable Skin Type(s): All Skin Types

Why I love it: I'm including this in here because although I don't use it as an actual moisturizer all over my face or body, it's still a very great moisturizing and hydrating product. Aquaphor is a go-to for pretty much all dermatologists because of the capabilities it has with repairing the skin when it's damaged. I use this on my eczema and it always gets rid of it very quickly, but I also use this on nights where I go a little heavy with my prescription retinoids and get that irritation, and for after tattoo removal sessions. You can use this on wounds, on your lips, on cracked heels, basically everywhere + it's INEXPENSIVE.

Key Ingredient(s): all of them.

Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion

Suitable Skin Type(s): All Skin Types

Why I love it: to be clear, I do not use this on my face. This is strictly a body moisturizer and I really love how moisturizing it is. I have body hair (I'm a boy) and I find sometimes moisturizers on the body can get caught in my hair and it drives me mental, this DOES NOT do that for me

Key Ingredient(s): Glycerin, Petrolatum, Fatty Alcohols
